What is Distressing?

Creating Old World Concrete. For those of you that want a custom concrete product that looks like it’s right out of an old Tuscan villa, then distressed concrete is for you. We use homemade tools to weather and randomly score the concrete giving it an aged concrete look. Clients choose the level of distressing - from light to heavy. These markings are then sanded to remove any sharp edges. Typically after we distress the concrete, we apply a colored glaze to enhance the look. Distressing is done before the sealer is applied to ensure that there are no unfinished areas.
